In this position, you will administer and resolve claims in a timely manner in accordance with legal statutes, policy provisions, and company guidelines.
Medical Malpractice Claims Adjuster Responsibilities
- Under technical direction, investigates and maintains Medical Malpractice claims, preferably claims involving nurses and other healthcare providers
- Solid knowledge of claims and insurance industry theory and practices
- Demonstrated technical expertise and product specific knowledge
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently, managing time and resources to accomplish multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills enabling viable alternative solutions
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and make critical business decisions effectively assessing the merits of claims as well as evaluating claims based on a cost-benefit analysis
- Ability to fully comprehend claim information; and to further articulate analyses of claims in internal reports
- Ability to handle claims with a proactive long-term view of business goals and objectives
Experience
- 3-5 years of California claims handling experience
- 5+ years of experience handling Professional Liability claims as a claims adjuster
- 3+ years of experience handling Medical Malpractice claims as a claims adjuster
Education
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required
