Overview

The pay rate for this position is $26.00 per hour and is non-negotiable.

The Brain Research in Latino Life-course Aging (BRILLA) Laboratory, directed by Dr. Ariana Stickel, examines cognitive and brain aging. We use neuropsychological testing and structural neuroimaging methods to study cognitive aging in middle-aged and older adults, especially individuals of Latino/x/e heritage. Current studies focus on identifying risk factors for cognitive decline and dementia with focus on cardiovascular disease risk and sensory health. We work with a wide-range of individuals, from researchers across the United States to local community clinics.

Under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator, Dr. Stickel, the Research Coordinator's primary responsibility is to help oversee day-to-day operations in the BRILLA Laboratory. This is a 1-year position with potential for an extension, if funds are available.

The Research Coordinator will supervise and coordinate aspects of study operations including recruitment, assessments/measurements, and database management. They will contribute to the development and maintenance of operations protocols and procedures, evaluation instruments, and ensure the research studies are meeting the expected goals and deliverables. The Research Coordinator will also assist the Principal Investigator with personnel management of research assistants to include hiring, training and employee relations.



Responsibilities

The Research Coordinator is responsible for, but not limited to, the following activities:

Study Operations (70%)

Coordinate and implement tasks related to recruitment, measurement, and data collection of multiple research studies. The Research Coordinator will assist with the development and maintenance of protocols, procedures and evaluation instruments. The Research Coordinator will perform and implements quality control procedures for evaluation. They will generate reports of upcoming follow-up appointments and manage and maintain the appointment calendar. The Research Coordinator will provide the Principal Investigator with routine communication of study operations status and issues. The incumbent will be responsible for training staff and student interns on the day-to-day operations of the study to include, but not limited to, participant recruitment and retention, the informed consent process, and neuropsychological test administration.

Other Duties and Responsibilities as Assigned (30%)

Prepares summary reports, and presentations related to the study. Assist the Principal Investigator with the management and tracking of participant incentives and cash advances for study materials and participant supplies. Perform data collection, ongoing data entry and cleaning, and implement quality control procedures for evaluation. Provide routine communication of project operations status and issues. Attend meetings and training sessions, as directed. Prepare summary reports, manuscripts and presentations related to the study. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications
  • Knowledge of data collection, data entry, and best practice research protocols.
  • Knowledge of research ethics, human subjects' protection, and informed consent procedures.
  • Knowledge of computer software programs such as MS Office, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, SPSS, etc.
  • Ability to coordinate regularly scheduled meetings with staff and interns.
  • Ability to write well to include clear and concise correspondence.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers and interact effectively with a variety of people in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to present information on an individual and group basis.
  • Ability to define, develop and implement procedures.
  • Ability to understand and follow posted work rules and procedures.
  • Ability to relate well to others within the project environment.
  • Ability to be highly motivated self-starter, displaying strong interpersonal skills.

Experience/Education
  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administration work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices or programs.
