Program Overview: The HIV Neurobehavioral Research Program (HNRP) in collaboration with the Center for Medicinal Cannabis Research (CMCR) leads multidisciplinary research initiatives focusing on HIV and cannabis. The program is pivotal in facilitating collaborative research efforts at various levels and provides essential resources for investigators engaged in HIV/AIDS and cannabis-related studies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently devise and implement strategies to engage the community for recruiting participants in extensive research studies.
  • Contribute to the formulation and execution of detailed operational protocols for studies.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the Participant Accrual and Retention (PAR) unit and the research team, attending regular meetings to provide updates on participant enrollment.
  • Develop outreach strategies to connect with community organizations that can facilitate participant recruitment.
  • Conduct participant screening, enrollment, and scheduling for research studies.
  • Gather and analyze research data through participant interviews.
  • Track enrollment progress and identify barriers to participation.
  • Deliver educational presentations to community groups to promote research participation.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with local community members and organizations serving individuals affected by HIV and related issues.
  • Assist with additional project-related tasks as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Six years of relevant experience or a Bachelor's degree in a related field with two years of experience.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Capability to identify and foster partnerships with professional organizations.
  • Knowledge of health and social service outreach practices.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and facilitate partnerships.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in data analysis and report generation.
  • Proficiency in creating program materials such as flyers and presentations.
  • Experience in delivering educational content to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows software.
  • Two or more years of experience in a research environment focused on outreach and education.
  • Familiarity with IRB guidelines for research promotional materials.
  • Knowledge of local health clinics and organizations providing HIV and substance abuse services.
  • Experience in delivering health education to individuals with varying levels of understanding.
  • Understanding of confidentiality regulations related to health information.
  • Awareness of the issues faced by target communities, including those living with HIV and substance use challenges.
  • Experience in managing enrollment for organ donation studies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Spanish, both oral and written.

Special Conditions:

  • Employment is contingent upon a criminal background check and pre-employment physical examination.
  • Experience in a healthcare or clinical research environment is preferred.
  • Willingness to engage with diverse community members.
  • Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is $53,800 - $91,000, subject to adjustment based on appointment percentage.
