Director, Category Management and Calendar, PLK, US&C

Our Opportunity: Restaurant Brands International is looking for a Director, Category Management and Calendar, Popeyes, US&C to join our Marketing Team based in Miami, FL. The position will oversee the Category Management team and the Sales Optimization and Calendar Strategy team.

The Category Management team is responsible for the development and implementation of the overall strategy for specific food and beverage categories to drive brand growth. Category strategies are developed by supporting the successful ideation, development, testing, consumer research, and launch of new menu items through our innovation process. Additionally, Category Management will conduct individual analysis of industry, competitive, and consumer trends and activities to identify new opportunities for product expansion.

The Sales Optimization and Calendar Strategy team is responsible for the creation and optimization of our marketing calendar, including defining which products we are launching, how we sequence and layer our promotions, and working with other Marketing and Digital functions to influence our marketing strategy. Additionally, this team owns key objectives to optimize our sales including defining menu board planograms, leading our digital menu boards test & learn agenda, enhancing our upsizing strategy, and overseeing certain special projects to drive incremental sales and traffic.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Leads the Category Management and Calendar teams
  • Completes regular analysis of industry, competitive, and consumer trends and activities
  • Leverages several sources of data to derive National and Regional sales trends, product mix, price positioning, menu architecture, and product margins
  • Supports in management of the stage-gate process for new product innovation from the ideation/concept stage to product launch
  • Collaborates with various cross-functional departments such as Operations, Marketing Analytics, Insights, Media, PR, Communications, Digital, and Supply Chain to manage categories, calendar and sales activations
  • Prepares briefings for Marketing Communications for any new product/promotional launches
  • Creates Executive presentations for strategic projects in a logical and well-thought-out manner
  • Develop and implement a rolling 3-year calendar or key marketing initiatives.
  • Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Periodically updates the marketing calendar to implement latest innovation from our category team, learnings from our media team, changes in the competitive landscape, or to activate a new guest insight

Required Skills:

  • University degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or related field
  • 8-10+ years of work experience in CPG, Retail, or related field, with passion and knowledge of or interest in the QSR Industry
  • Strong managerial experience
  • Track record of exceptional project management, analytical skills, creative problem-solving capabilities, and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks at once
  • Strong business acumen with a high sense of curiosity
  • Advanced skill level using Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills; able to interact cross functionally, communicate effectively, and lead teams towards a common goal
  • Highly organized and motivated with a desire to outperform
  • Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
  • Must be solution-oriented, able to dissect information, see opportunities, pre-empt potential issues, and find solutions
  • Must have excellent oral and written skills to include formal presentation experience and the ability to prepare and present development presentations
  • Must have the ability to interface and maintain excellent professional relationships with a variety of audiences including franchise partners, food vendors/manufactures, and internal teams
