Engineering Group Head I in GAC Savannah

DUTIES
:

Supervise a group of engineering employees within a similar discipline responsible for tasks and objective assignments. Utilize diversified knowledge and engineering experience, provide direction to subordinate employees, and administer performance standards, schedules, and budgets.

Develop and evaluate plans for projects and activities; assess technical feasibility and soundness of proposed analysis, tests, or concepts being applied.

Provide direct supervision of employees of similar expertise for a large project or a number of small projects. Communicate performance expectations, salary administration, and conduct performance appraisals. Responsible for establishing and executing objectives that support short term goals.

Make decisions independently on engineering problems and methods; represent the organization to resolve important issues and to plan and coordinate work.

Conduct briefings and participate in technical meetings concerning specific projects. Act as an advisor to subordinate leads or staff members. Actively participate in daily operations as required to meet schedules and resolve issues.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field required.

Ten years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer or a related position required, including:

experience in 3D models, CATIA V5, SmarTeam, AutoCAD, and Excel; experience with check/data integrity validation of 3D aircraft cabinet assemblies, plumbing & electrical monuments, and installation drawings produced by designers per design standards, processes, and best practices; experience with the validation of designs for form/fit/function for ease of manufacturing, the validation of designs to meet customer criteria per Design Sales Packages and Sale Spec, and the validation for complete accuracy and conformity to meet certification requirements; experience with participating in the development, improvement of best practices and department standards for ease of manufacturing and installing; experience with the validation and research of technical data in references to process, machined parts, weldments, materials, and finishes; designer experience in development of cabinetry layouts in 3D (models) and 2D (drawings); experience with Part 25 aircraft requirements and demonstrated familiarity with Part 135 requirements; experience with CATIA V5, SmarTeam, Excel - Macro creation; and demonstrated competency with Weight & Center of Gravity Analysis.

In lieu of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field and 10 years of experience, a Master's degree in Engineering or a related field and 8 years of the above-listed experience OR a PhD in Engineering or a related field and 6 years of the above-listed experience is acceptable.

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Engineering or related curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.

10 years Engineering experience. 5 years specific technical discipline.

Experience credit considered for related advanced degrees limited to 2 yrs with Masters, 4 yrs with PhD in fields applicable to this job.

1 year supervisory or broad managerial responsibility.
