The IT and Operations PMO is responsible for actively supporting the planning and execution of those initiatives by the relevant organizational owners, including governance support, portfolio management and project management.

The PMO will also provide problem-solving support to the organization, by supporting particular initiatives or removing barriers that emerge during project implementation.


Job Overview:

The Sr.

Project Manager for IT Project and Portfolio Management is responsible for project and portfolio management for the technology implementation initiatives, projects and processes.

This is a challenging position which requires technology project planning experience, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well in a distributed, multicultural environment.

The role reports to the Director for IT and Operations Project and Portfolio Management, with day-to-day collaboration with stakeholders across the technology and business organization.

Major

Responsibilities:

Define the initiatives or projects within the IT department's project portfolio, manage the pipeline of potential future projects, and prepare recommendations on acceleration, deceleration, additions and removals from the portfolio.

Lead an effort to consolidate project management tools into a single coherent platform for project scheduling, status reporting, issue and risk tracking, task collaboration, etc.

Develop a sustainable training plan for the adoption of these tools and associated processes.

Analyze dependencies and risks across the initiatives and projects to identify the real cumulative challenges, and the status of spend in aggregate.

Review and assure individual project workplans to create a consolidated view of the overall schedule, impact to the rest of the IT organization and users, the field, resource demands and pressure points, on both an initial and ongoing basis.

Manage and take responsibility for hands-on implementation of technology projects as needed.

Establish rigorous risk management and reporting processes across the portfolio of projects, with appropriate reporting to ensure appropriate risk management measures are taken.

Gather, collate and analyze the status of all projects and initiatives, using a defined set of metrics.
Prepare insightful summary status reports that include recommendations for remedial action.

Identify, structure and analyze decisions that are required at the senior level, including critical design decisions, stage gate reviews and prioritization.

Provide assurance on project management for technology initiatives and projects at key milestones.

Engage with staff across the IRC who are responsible for planning and implementing change, and provide direct strategic and problem-solving support to specific initiatives, particularly at the inception or initial planning stage.

Engage with stakeholders, ensure they are kept up-to-date on progress, collaborate with them on cross-dependencies, and escalate issues and decisions as appropriate.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree or equivalent with at least 8 years of progressive experience in technology project management or equivalent roles
Experience in project managing medium to large-scale, cross-functional technology projects
Experience in managing technology project portfolios within a Project Management Office environment, or equivalent structure
Understanding of the challenges related to implementing strategic and organizational change
Strong analytical skills, creative problem-solving skills, and ability to anticipate barriers and opportunities
Experience in facilitating governance processes, and in interacting and communicating effectively with all levels of an organization
Capability to manage multiple demands and to adapt to new challenges and shifting priorities
Excellent writing, presentation and meeting facilitation skills
Experience in using project management methodologies, templates, tools and processes
High level of proficiency with MS Office, documents management solutions and project management tools
Preferred Additional Requirements
Experience with project and portfolio management tools, e.g., Clarizen, Microsoft Project Online, etc.
Project Management certification

Working Environment:
