The Energy team consists of four departments: Mining, Utilities, Oil & Petrochemicals and Engineering & Construction. Differentiate CorSo in the marketplace by:

Providing excellent servicing to our customers utilizing state-of-the-art risk assessment methodologies, tools, and reporting capabilities Developing new products, services, and markets for Swiss Re Further driving Risk Engineering Services (RES) as well as digital capabilities (internally and externally facing) Supporting risk communication with customers and other stakeholders of Swiss Re

Execute on positive risk selection by:

Providing underwriters with independent risk quality assessment, loss potential estimations and exposure analytics during the underwriting decision-making process Supporting Risk Engineering Services (RES) management and underwriters in capacity allocation and risk selection on portfolio level Helping refine costing tools and underwriting guidelines Providing technical / industry training to Underwriting / CorSo community


You tasks will also include:

Leadership and management:

Lead and manage a team of senior professionals (four teams) Foster teamwork and team spirit, motivate and encourage staff, support, and develop talent Recruit and develop high-quality talent, ensuring CorSo's future capabilities are represented within the talent community Train and develop staff, also with the support of HR, Swiss Re Academy and other supporting units Foster innovation and continuous improvement Maintain a high-performance and open management culture Manage/drive projects and related resources within given time, resource, and cost boundary conditions Keep department and division management up to date on important regional market developments, e.g. risk engineering / risk management / underwriting

Representation Activities:

Represent Swiss Re with senior level customer contacts, at industry events and conferences Support marketing effort by assuming an account engineering role for selected accounts Support risk communication internally and with customers and other stakeholders of Swiss Re by conducting workshops and seminars (internally and externally) and other marketing activities (e.g. reports, papers & analyses on special risks and recent changes in technology)

Compliance and Controlling Activities:

Manage compliance with all relevant Group reputation and risk guidance and processes (Code of Conduct, Group Underwriting Guidelines, SOX, ORM, etc.) Maintain and further develop own Risk Engineering Services control framework - in line with corporate guidance and global standards

About Risk Engineering Services

Risk Engineering Services at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions is a global team that applies technical expertise to identify, analyze and evaluate risks in close cooperation with Corporate Solutions Underwriters. It also provides loss prevention service offerings directly to our customers. Among others, this provides our internal underwriters with the basis for successful risk selection, capacity allocation and accurate costing. Our team has a broad range of technical and scientific experience and is working closely with global and regional stakeholders and customers. Our excellent technical expertise is complemented by a strong team spirit looking for alternative and innovative risk assessment methods to provide value beyond risk transfer and make the world more resilient.

About You

Extensive experience in risk engineering, industry and loss prevention in commercial insurance; +10 years of experience in an international business environment Mechanical / mining / electrical engineer, or equivalent education Proven international leadership qualities (cultural sensitivity) to coach international team of engineers Excellent managerial capabilities, interpersonal and social skills, project management experience in a multicultural environment Pronounced strategic thinking and execution capabilities (recognize trends and needs, drive implementation) as well as accountability Strong conceptual and analytical skills to drive methods, models, data mining, etc. Sound (re)-insurance knowledge; preferably corporate business underwriting experience and knowledge in the use of underwriting tools, applications, & guidelines Highly developed service and sales mindset Excellent communication and negotiating skills Creative mindset with a 'can do' attitude Business travel (up to 20% of time), including extended flight time Ability to work in a virtual team set-up and motivated to constantly learn and further develop existing skillsLI-Hybrid

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office two to three days per week on average.

For New York, NY, the estimated base salary range for this position is $208,000 to $330,000. The specific salary offered for this, or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
