About the Role

Commercial admitted and surplus lines group of property/casualty insurance companies seeking an experienced In-House Insurance Claims Counsel for their corporate legal department. Join a corporate culture that is collaborative, collegial, professional, and fast-paced.

This position provides a wide range of legal support to the company's claim department and claims function overall, including: working in close coordination with company claim professionals and external claims administrators; oversight and management of all claims litigation; oversight and management of external claims counsel (defense and coverage); developing strategies and procedures to optimize claim litigation management.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide wide variety of legal services exclusively to the claims department
  • Coordination and management of all claims litigation matters
  • Oversight and management of external legal claims counsel (defense and coverage)
  • Work closely with external TPA firms and other company partners
  • Develop and implement strategies for claims litigation optimization

Skills & Experience

  • J.D. degree and at least one active state bar admission, preferably Texas or North Carolina
  • 5 years of insurance claims (defense) litigation, either in-house at an insurance company, in-house at a third-party claims administrator, and/or external law firm claims (defense) counsel to insurance companies

Compensation, Benefits, & Perks

$180k to $200k . In-office 3 days a week. 10% bonus and employer pays all of the healthcare insurance.
