Join our team as a Budget Officer at a prestigious University Planning and Budget Office, working under the Senior Director of Budget. You will play a crucial role in supporting the University's operating and capital budgeting processes, Trustee Quarterly Reporting, and various other financial analysis tasks.

About the Role

As a Budget Officer, you will work within a dynamic environment, contributing to the development, monitoring, and analysis of the University's Operating and Capital Budgets and Five-Year Plans. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with staff and management across multiple academic divisions and administrative units to ensure financial transparency and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in the formulation and development of the University's Operating Budget and Five-Year Plan.
  • Support the budget process by creating templates and documents for budget submissions.
  • Prepare data files, summaries, and presentations related to the operating budgets.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to finalize budget presentations for Trustee review.
  • Develop business plans for capital projects and analyze capital spending patterns.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly reports and analyze financial results.
  • Conduct financial and budgetary analyses to identify trends and variances.
  • Lead special projects by providing in-depth research and recommendations.
  • Advise on budget planning and reporting processes to enhance analytical capabilities.
  • Interact with various University stakeholders to fulfill financial oversight responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of budget and financial analysis experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Finance, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in higher education is a plus.

Scope of Responsibility

  • Oversee Divisional Operating and Capital Plans.
  • Manage Trustee reporting and financial analysis.
  • Provide guidance to budget office staff.
  • Participate in business planning for capital investments.
  • Engage with University leadership and staff for financial interactions.
