Position Overview

The Director of Budget & Finance at Johns Hopkins Medicine plays a pivotal role in enhancing the Revenue Cycle Management processes. This position entails the generation of comprehensive financial and statistical reports that are essential for informed decision-making regarding revenue cycles. The incumbent will assist in the preparation and oversight of departmental budgets and performance metrics, while also undertaking various ad hoc reports and special projects as required.

In this capacity, the individual will work autonomously to identify and articulate issues, gather and analyze relevant data, propose alternative solutions, and communicate findings to different management levels. Key responsibilities encompass report generation, data analysis, budget file creation, and managing patient accounts receivable reserves. The role requires proficiency in utilizing software such as SQL Server, EPIC Hyperspace, Epic Slicer Dicer, SAP, and EPSI cost accounting systems to compile a range of internal and external financial reports.

This position demands collaboration and adaptability within the Health System, fostering relationships across various facilities and gaining familiarity with each institution's technological environment and payer agreements as necessary.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline; a Master's degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, or Information Management is preferred.
  2. Proven experience in developing and managing budgets for large-scale operations (greater than 750 FTEs and over $91 million).
  3. Expertise in analyzing and establishing reserve requirements for patient accounts receivable.
  4. A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in hospital receivables and operations management within a large academic medical center or health system, with at least six (6) years in a leadership role.
  5. Prior experience should include involvement in revenue cycle management initiatives and/or responsibilities, alongside significant participation in redesign projects and/or management experience in a highly automated, centralized business office setting.
  6. Demonstrated ability to employ team-building and quality management principles to positively impact the work environment.
  7. Leadership experience in industry organizations such as HFMA is advantageous.
  8. CPA certification is a plus.
