Position Overview

The Director of Budget & Finance will report directly to the Executive Director of Operations and Innovations. This role is pivotal in enhancing the Revenue Cycle Management by producing essential financial and statistical reports that facilitate revenue cycle decision-making. The Director will also play a key role in preparing and overseeing departmental budgets and performance metrics, alongside executing special projects and ad hoc reports as required.

In this capacity, the individual will independently identify and define challenges, gather and analyze data, propose alternative solutions, and communicate findings to various management levels. Responsibilities encompass report generation, data analysis, budget file creation, and managing patient accounts receivable reserves. The Director will concentrate on compiling a range of internal and external financial reports utilizing tools such as SQL Server, EPIC Hyperspace, Epic Slicer Dicer, SAP, EPSI cost accounting system, and other relevant software.

This role requires collaboration within a team environment and a positive approach to change across the Health System. Building relationships across all facilities and becoming acquainted with each institution's computer systems and payer agreements is essential.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline. A Master's degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, or Information Management is preferred.
  2. Proven experience in developing and managing budgets for extensive operations (over 750 FTEs and $91 million+).
  3. Demonstrated expertise in analyzing and establishing reserve requirements for patient accounts receivable.
  4. A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in hospital receivables or operations management within a large academic medical center or health system, with at least six (6) years in a leadership role.
  5. Prior experience should include revenue cycle management responsibilities and a significant role in redesign projects or management within a highly automated, centralized business office.
  6. Experience applying team-building and quality management principles to positively impact the work environment.
  7. Leadership involvement in industry organizations such as HFMA is advantageous.
  8. CPA certification is a plus.
