Position Overview

The Director of Budget & Finance plays a pivotal role within the organization, reporting directly to the Executive Director of Operations and Innovations. This position is tasked with enhancing the Revenue Cycle Management by producing essential financial and statistical reports that inform revenue cycle strategies. The Director will assist in the preparation and oversight of departmental budgets and performance metrics, while also undertaking various ad hoc reports and special initiatives as required.

Key responsibilities include independently identifying and defining financial challenges, compiling and analyzing relevant data, proposing alternative solutions, and effectively communicating findings to various management levels. Specific duties encompass report generation, data analysis, budget development, and managing patient accounts receivable reserves. The Director will utilize a range of software tools, including SQL Server, EPIC Hyperspace, Epic Slicer Dicer, SAP, and EPSI cost accounting systems, to compile comprehensive internal and external financial reports.

This role requires collaboration and adaptability within the Health System, fostering positive relationships across all facilities while gaining familiarity with each institution's technological landscape and payer agreements.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline; a Master's degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, or Information Management is preferred.
  2. Proven experience in developing and managing budgets for large-scale operations (over 750 FTEs and exceeding $91 million).
  3. Expertise in analyzing and establishing reserve requirements for patient accounts receivable.
  4. A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in hospital receivables and operations management within a large academic medical center or health system, with at least six (6) years in a leadership role.
  5. Prior experience should include involvement in revenue cycle management projects and significant contributions to redesign initiatives or management in a highly automated, centralized business office environment.
  6. Demonstrated ability to apply team-building and quality management principles to positively impact the workplace.
  7. Leadership experience in industry organizations such as HFMA is advantageous.
  8. CPA certification is a plus.
