Position Summary

The Senior Instrumentation Specialist is recognized as a Subject Matter Expert in Metabolism automation and instrumentation and has a focus on supporting and maintaining automation of Metabolism invitro assays, scientific instruments in analytical labs, validation of new equipment and laboratory software. They assist with training and mentoring of less experienced staff and serve as the onsite Lead of IT Departmental applications for Metabolism.

Candidates given best consideration will have the following qualifications:

  • Skilled in the use of all standard laboratory instruments which may include but not limit to Mass Spec, HPLC, Hamilton Liquid Handlers, Automation Equipment, etc.
  • Ability to respond efficiently, consistently, and continuously to requests while delivering high quality output on time.
  • Ability to collaborate with the team to identify obstacles to change and new procedures with automation to incorporate.
  • Has an awareness of latest technologies and regulatory thinking with respect to specific scientific discipline.
  • Experienced in establishing clear plans to meet short- and medium-term requirements for projects.
  • Anticipates issues/obstacles which may prevent meeting project/department objectives and identifies solutions to overcome difficulties.
  • Ability to recognize deviations from normal results and inform management of any problems that may affect integrity of the data.
  • Ability to devise and implement action plans or complex method development for the operational group.
  • Ability to utilize word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and specialized software.

Education/Experience

  • BS/BA degree in science or related field plus 6 years of appropriate experience. Relevant experience may be substituted for academic qualifications. At least 2 years at previous level. Hamilton Venus programming experience highly preferred. Must have some experience programming liquid handling robotics.
