Job Description:

Job Duties:

  • Help organize the issuance of livestock and NPDES permits.
  • Send outgoing mail, including Certified letters; tracks correspondence in agency databases.
  • Route incoming mail to program staff.
  • Data entry and tracking in an A400 system and OnBase ECM.
  • Ensure accuracy of and prepare program documents for filing with the agency Records Team.
  • Provide support to agency receptionist as part of a rotating cycle with other Office and Administrative Specialists.

What you will do


As a member of the NPDES and State Permits team, the administrative support you will provide by sending outgoing mail, publicly noticing documents, entering vital data, maintaining records, and communicating with the public will ensure that NDEE continues to protect Nebraska's air, water, land, and energy.

Our administrative staff are essential to NDEE's success, and the agency as a whole will rely on your accuracy, diligence, and integrity.

Work schedule:
Monday – Friday – 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Flexible schedule and 10-hour workdays maybe allowed with management approval after the probationary period.

Requirements/ Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Coursework and/or training in administrative and office support functions, procedures, and methods, including the operation of personal computers and office equipment, and areas related to the programs and functions of the employing agency OR experience performing administrative, office, and/or secretarial support work including use of personal computers and office equipment.

Post High School coursework or experience in administrative, office, and/or secretarial support functions preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:
Post high school coursework and/or experience in administrative, office, and/or secretarial support functions.

Other:

  • Submit a resume or list on the application specific detailed experience relevant to the position in years and months.
  • Submit a current list of at least professional references (previous employers) with valid telephone number.
  • Valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent transportation
  • Ability to sit at a computer for and extended amount of time,
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds,
  • Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance.

Knowledge of:

Strong reasoning, analytical, communication and organizational skills; strong computer skills including working knowledge of desktop office software, databases, word processing software, and spreadsheets.


Ability to:

Maintain regular and reliable attendance; work in word processing and spreadsheet applications; learn the organizational structure, mission, and activities of the agency; learn agency policies and procedures pertinent to the work assigned; communicate effectively in person and in writing with coworkers and the public; provide quality customer service to the public and agency staff in a fast paced, team centered atmosphere; handle multiple tasks simultaneously, working independently with limited supervision.
