We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Electrical Engineer specializing in Firmware development to join our Maritime team. You will work closely with the program leadership and a wide spectrum of cross-departments as part of a team focused on solving hard problems and changing the industry forever. In this role you will be responsible for designing and supporting the integration of various subsystems, supporting testing efforts, and ensuring overall system performance meets the required specifications and standards. Join our dynamic team and help us build the next generation of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) that will redefine underwater operations.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Develop low-level firmware/software for microcontrollers, create reusable device drivers, integrate system-level features and architect changes to support an ever-growing codebase
  • Troubleshoot issues that span the electrical and software boundaries, with solid skills using both lab equipment (Oscilloscopes, DMM, etc.) and basic software debugging tools
  • Full cycle PCB design including collecting requirements, schematic design, component selection, supervision or completion of layout, bring-up, test, debug and system integration
  • Development of payloads and subsystems (sensors, payload interfaces, power management, and networking)
  • Work closely with other electrical, mechanical, software, firmware, and test engineers to deliver fully functional products
  • Work in a fast-paced environment supporting new developments and customer operated hardware
  • Conduct peer-level and cross-discipline design reviews

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS or MS in CS/CE/EE or equivalent industry experience with 7+ years of experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex board designs
  • Knowledge of modern analog and digital electronics and electronic circuits.
  • Strong C coding ability for embedded systems
  • Experience integrating microcontrollers with analog and digital sensors
  • Experience developing firmware in bare-metal or RTOS environments
  • Solid understanding and application of coding best practices, board bring up and debugging
  • Competence with common bus protocols such as USB, SPI, I2C, CAN, RS232, RS485, Ethernet, etc
  • Competence with software development processes and tools such as git, Github, JIRA, etc
  • Competence with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, thermal chambers, current-probes, and automation of tests.
  • Familiarity with common MCU, CPU, FPGA devices and technologies.
  • Comfortable with a variety of electronic CAD tools (Altium preferred, Eagle and others acceptable)
  • U.S. Person status is required as this position needs to access export controlled data.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with one or more microcontroller cores (ARM, AVR, MSP430, etc.)
  • Experience with FPGA development environment (VHDL)

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
