Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Maritime team. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with program leadership and cross-departmental teams to design, develop, and integrate complex electrical systems for our Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs).

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop full-cycle PCBs, including requirements collection, schematic design, component selection, layout, bring-up, testing, debugging, and system integration.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical and software issues, utilizing lab equipment and basic software debugging tools.
  • Develop payloads and subsystems, including sensors, payload interfaces, power management, and networking.
  • Create system interconnect diagrams and define wire harnesses for electronic equipment within subsystems.
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, software, firmware, and test engineers to deliver fully functional products.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment supporting new developments and customer-operated hardware.
  • Conduct peer-level and cross-discipline design reviews.
  • Design and support the integration and testing of AUV systems through TRLs 3-8.
  • Conduct vehicle platform system design and analysis as required by supported programs or efforts.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with 7+ years of experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex board designs.
  • Knowledge of modern analog and digital electronics and electronic circuits.
  • Competence with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, thermal chambers, current-probes, and automation of tests.
  • Familiarity with standard interfaces such as Ethernet, CAN, I2C, SPI, PCIe, USB, etc.
  • Familiarity with common MCU, CPU, FPGA devices and technologies.
  • Familiarity with software development processes and tools such as git, Github, JIRA, etc.
  • Comfortable with a variety of electronic CAD tools (Altium preferred, Eagle and others acceptable).
  • Experience in design for signal integrity/power integrity.
  • Experience with battery systems and ability to support alternate battery systems design.
  • Experience with high reliability systems.
  • Experience with radio frequency-based systems.
  • Experience with rapid payload/sensor integration.
  • Experience in designing and integrating high power electronics.
  • Experience in fieldable system design.
  • Comfortable in conducting worst-case circuit or uncertainty analysis.
  • High-ownership and a bias toward action – if you see a problem, you want to solve and fix it.
  • Maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
  • Ability to travel 25% with potential surges above 25%.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing electrical and power systems for autonomous underwater vehicles.
  • Experience with battery systems both primary and secondary chemistries.
  • Understanding of MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810G.
