About the Job

We have a job opening for a Peer Support Specialist at our Rental Assistance Program (RAP) in Jackson County. The RAP Peer Support Specialist works directly with individuals by assisting them to navigate very complex systems (rental applications and requirements, HUD/alternative subsidy applications, benefits systems, public transportation, etc.). The RAP Peer Support Specialists will work directly with the Veteran population and/or Transition Aged Youth (TAY) clients (ages

The RAP Peer Support Specialist will utilize strategic self-disclosure of lived experience to build connections with individuals and normalize mental health challenges and will be primarily responsible for conducting the housing search and accessing community resources. The RAP Peer Support Specialist will motivate individuals with behavioral health challenges to transition into their apartments and once placed, in maintaining that apartment. They will work on engaging the individual in the spheres of being a good tenant/neighbor and living in the community.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm (Full Time, Day)

$ $26.00 per hour DOE/Credentials

Additional 5% Language Differential offered for Bilingual or Multilingual candidates (Spanish/English desired).

About the Program

Our Rental Assistance Program (RAP) is designed to help high-needs individuals obtain independent housing in the community. Clients have a diagnosis of serious mental illness and are stepping down from higher levels of care. These individuals typically face many barriers to obtaining housing and it's our focus is to help them to overcome those obstacles.

ColumbiaCare Services is a qualifying employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program.

What You'll Need

Successful candidates MUST:

  • Have personal experience with mental health challenges
  • Be Certified and Registered as a Peer Support Specialist (PSS) or Peer Wellness Specialist (PWS) through the Oregon Health Authority (OHA).

Driving is an essential function of this position. Successful applicants MUST also have a valid Oregon driver's license, maintain a safe driving record, and have the ability to pass a DHS criminal background check.

Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to frequently talk, listen, use hands and fingers, sit, stand, walk, reach; as well as lift, carry, push, and pull up to 40 pounds. It may require the ability to occasionally climb stairs and ladders, bend, stoop, squat/kneel, and perform other physical tasks as applicable. In addition, you must successfully completecrisisde-escalation and CPR trainings, which require performing various physical, hands-on maneuvers and techniques. Reasonable accommodations can be made.
