Position Overview
We are seeking a Peer Support Specialist for our Rental Assistance Program (RAP). This role involves directly assisting individuals in navigating complex systems related to housing applications, subsidy applications, and public transportation.
The Peer Support Specialist will primarily engage with Veterans and Transition Aged Youth (TAY) clients. Utilizing personal lived experiences, the specialist will foster connections, normalize mental health challenges, and assist clients in their housing search while accessing community resources.
The specialist will motivate individuals facing behavioral health challenges to secure and maintain their housing, encouraging positive community engagement and tenant responsibilities.
Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Compensation
$26.00 per hour based on experience and credentials.
Additional Compensation
An additional 5% Language Differential is available for bilingual or multilingual candidates (Spanish/English preferred).
About the Program
Our Rental Assistance Program (RAP) is dedicated to helping individuals with serious mental health diagnoses secure independent housing. We focus on overcoming barriers to housing access for those transitioning from higher levels of care.
ColumbiaCare Services qualifies for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program.
Qualifications
Successful candidates MUST:
- Have personal experience with mental health challenges
- Be Certified and Registered as a Peer Support Specialist (PSS) or Peer Wellness Specialist (PWS) through the Oregon Health Authority (OHA).
A valid Oregon driver's license and a safe driving record are essential, along with the ability to pass a DHS criminal background check.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires frequent communication, mobility, and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds. It may also involve climbing stairs and performing physical tasks as necessary. Successful completion of crisis de-escalation and CPR training is required, which includes hands-on techniques. Reasonable accommodations can be arranged.
