Position Summary

Reporting to the chief diversity and inclusion officer, this role leads Sacred Heart University in managing anti-discrimination and discriminatory harassment efforts and in coordinating its compliance with laws pertaining to persons with disabilities. Housed in the Office for Inclusive Excellence, the role supports the overall institutional pursuit for inclusive excellence. As such, the ideal candidate will have demonstrated interest, understanding, and application of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and other related principles.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Manage the Anti-Discrimination and Discriminatory Harassment Policy and Procedures, including conducting complaint intakes, investigations, case management, and reporting procedures; overseeing resolutions; and collaborating on education and sanction implementation including managing the Bias Education and Support Team in providing educational interventions where appropriate.
Maintain a case management database to organize, manage, and track incidents.
Develop and identify anti-discrimination and discriminatory harassment campaigns and educational materials, including workshops, online modules, tangible resources, other online resources, etc.
Lead in policy and procedure development for OIE. Act as OIE liaison for policy and procedure inquiries and development for other divisions, departments, and clubs/organizations.
Coordinate with other areas of the institution that have anti-discrimination and discriminatory harassment responsibilities within their purview, including human resources, Title IX, student accessibility, student conduct, and others.
Assume the responsibilities of the university's ADA/504 Coordinator, responsible for assuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act as amended (ADAA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and other federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to persons with disabilities (professional development/training available).
Serve on the Inclusive Excellence Advisory Council and chair its accessibility committee.
Support other diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging needs.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Other Attributes

Required

Bachelor's degree in a related field including, but not limited to, legal studies, student affairs, conduct, or higher education administration.
At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in the area of case management, civil rights compliance, or investigations.
Extensive experience exercising discretion, diplomacy, and sound judgment in rapidly changing circumstances.
Ability to take initiative and independently organize, prioritize, and carry out detailed work under time constraints.
Successful track record of team building and engaging multiple key stakeholders to achieve objectives
Preferred

Master's or other post-graduate professional degree.
Background and training in conducting sensitive and confidential intake interviews, ideally in a higher education environment.
Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to persons with disabilities, particularly in the context of higher education.
Experience in developing and facilitating training and education related to discrimination and harassment compliance and support.
Experience in developing systems and protocols to maintain organizational compliance.
Unusual Working Conditions

This role may require working occasional nights & weekends.
