Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a part-time (28 hours a week) Nevada Assistive Technology Resource Center, Project Specialist for the Nevada Center for Excellence in Disabilities (NCED). This position is responsible for assisting staff in providing assistive technology and telecommunication program services and supports to individuals with disabilities, service providers, and the general community.

Duties to include:
  • Provide information and assistance about the programs by phone, email, online, and in person at activities and events.
  • Assist program staff with other general direct service activities relating to assistive technology under the Federal AT Act including outreach, public awareness, training, technical assistance, and statewide leadership.
  • Assist program staff to provide telecommunication and related assistive technology equipment and program services to individuals with disabilities.
  • Assist staff with the assistive technology Peer User Groups and document activities, attendance, and other logistical support.
  • Assist staff with data collection for reports for the Nevada Telecommunication Equipment Distribution Program and the Nevada Assistive Technology Resource Center.
Required Qualifications

High School Graduation and three (3) years of related work experience, Associate's Degree and two (2) years of related work experience, Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of related work experience or a Master's Degree.

Related experience: Working in a closely related field or for family members or self-advocates, a minimum of one year of significant life experiences with disabilities and/or training that provides a needed perspective for projects within the Nevada Center for Excellence in Disabilities or closely related field. Some projects require family members or self-advocates to be employed on specific projects

Grants-in-aid for Faculty Employees

The University is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to faculty and qualified dependents. Faculty can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate. The UCEDDs were established and funded by the Developmental Disabilities Rights Assistance and Rights Act (DD Act). UCEDDs work to accomplish a shared vision that foresees a nation in which all Americans, including Americans with disabilities, participate fully in their communities.
