Job Description

The Larson Institute, within the School of Public Health at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is recruiting for a Disease Investigations Manager provides comprehensive and direct program support to effectively implement specific diversity grants, related to community outreach, training, and planning of public health resources. This position will act as a disease investigations manager for COVID-19 and other conditions.

This job posting is for current and future openings. These are temporary full-time positions to provide support for COVID-19 prevention and control in coordination with local and state health jurisdictions. Positions are located in Reno and/or Carson City, Nevada.

Duties Include:
  • Scheduling and supervising a team contact tracers at any given time to provide mentorship and support
  • Training and providing technical assistance to contact tracers and disease investigators during assigned shifts
  • Taking the lead on sensitive or challenging cases
  • Assuring data confidentiality and security
  • Providing quality control, review, and data cleaning related to contact investigation of the assigned team
  • Maintaining active communication with Contact Tracing Manager and attending team meetings
  • Monitor performance of supervisees and conduct formal performance evaluations
  • Immediately identifying and interviewing people with SARS CoV-2 infections and COVID-19 (i.e., disease) using motivational interviewing techniques
  • Supporting isolation and dissemination of information to those who are infected
  • Communicating to contacts of their exposure, assessing their symptoms and risk, and providing instructions for next steps
  • Linking those with symptoms to testing and care
  • Maintaining accurate record keeping and following data entry protocol
  • Maintaining high standards of confidentiality and contact information security
  • Provide exemption letters, as applicable
  • Other duties as needed
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years of related work experience OR a Master's Degree and one (1) year of related work experience. Related Experience: Data collection, analysis, and reporting; public health program coordination and planning; working with minority/diverse populations; conducting epidemiologic investigations; supervisory experience or related field

Certification and Licensure
  • Current Nevada driver's license

Grants-in-aid for Faculty Employees
