Job DescriptionJob DescriptionColumbus Technical College is seeking an individual to serve as a full-time construction instructor for our mobile Carpentry trailer. This individual will prepare lesson plans for the mobile carpentry trailer; evaluate students' progress in attaining goals, objectives, and student learning outcomes; attend faculty development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences as needed. This position is full-time/exempt.

Please note the following information regarding this position:
  1. Will be required to teach high school students.
  2. Will require teaching on or off campus throughout our service delivery area (Muscogee County, Stewart County, Quitman County, Chattahoochee County, Harris County, and Talbot County)
  3. Will require travel.Responsibilities:
  4. Instruct students in Carpentry and constructing various projects
  5. Follow state standards in developing program and course outlines, goals and objectives
  6. Evaluate students' progress in attaining goals and objectives
  7. Request and maintain supplies, tools, and equipment
  8. Develop teaching methods and maintain documentation
  9. Meet with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students
  10. Ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training areas
  11. Assist with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts
  12. Maintain program certification requirements, as appropriate
  13. Strong time management and organization skills
  14. Effective written and oral communication
  15. Keen observation, supervision and evaluation skills
  16. General Computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel)
  17. Other job related duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:
  18. Diploma or Certificate in Carpentry/Cabinetmaking or related field from an accredited college or technical institution
  19. Minimum of 3 years' work experience in the Carpentry/Cabinetmaking field Salary/Benefits:
    Salary is $55,000 annually. Benefits include state holidays, annual leave, and sick leave, State of Georgia Retirement, Health and Flexible Benefits Program.
