As a Co-op with Ferguson Construction Company, you will gain hands-on experience learning each skilled trade in the business. You will work alongside full-time construction professionals who will provide guidance and share their knowledge on various tasks. You will be involved in specific project responsibilities, assigned to you, and receive mentoring to ensure your success. Our evaluation process allows our supervisors to provide the right amount of guidance and training on the jobsite.

Daily activities will enable you to experience applicable processes and management methods firsthand. Supervisors and project staff will structure your work efforts to help you learn about your area of interest while you contribute directly to the completion of a quality project.

We are seeking Construction Field Co-ops with a passion for commercial construction to join our team. The primary responsibility of this position is to work alongside our field craftworkers and learn how each contributes to the successful completion of the project. Our Field Co-ops assist onsite to ensure a safe work environment, quality construction, effective planning & scheduling, cost management, collaboration with project stakeholders, and superior customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside Craftworkers, Crew Leaders, and Superintendents daily to understand trade techniques and how each trade contributes.
  • Learn various skills from the Superintendent on the job, including creating schedules, talking to subcontractors, running a project smoothly from start to finish, and working with the Superintendent on the job.
  • Observe and/or interact with various professionals related to the construction field, including owners, architects, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Attend project meetings and departmental meetings on an ongoing basis and any appropriate management or coordination meetings.
  • Participate in site and safety inspections, conducting inventories, troubleshooting.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

At the end of the co-op's time at Ferguson Construction Company, they will have a better understanding of how projects are managed and the tools used to successfully complete projects.
