Lam Research has a small 100 person engineering office in Waltham and they need a desktop support technician 100% onsite for at least 6+ months, most likely longer. I'm still waiting to hear if it's CTH. The current 3 I have on the team in Portland have been on contract for a minimum of 1 year, so there is long term commitment from the customer.

I've been working with Lam Research for over 15 years exclusively and this is the first time they've needed our help in Boston. Lam Research Corporation is an American supplier of wafer fabrication equipment and related services to the semiconductor industry. Its products are used primarily in front-end wafer processing, which involves the steps that create the active components of semiconductor devices and their wiring. Everything we use technically every day, Lam has had a part in the manufacturing of the product. Very innovative and they are working on machines and processes for 5 years out, which is crazy to fathom.

Great opportunity to show them our national recruiting footprint. The bill rate is $96.60/hr and the interview will be with Heath and most likely, 2 other supervisors. All the managers and supervisors either work in Oregon or CA and it's a pretty quick 1 hour one and done interview process. Background only, no drug test.

Role: System/Deskside Support
Location: Waltham, MA
Duration: Long Term

Responsibilities:

• Desk side support (specific engineering apps, software simulators, Windows and Linux OS)

• Campus infrastructure support (server, storage, VMs, network) – does not have to be an expert or architect but needs to have basic troubleshooting understanding of the concepts

• Experience in hands-on support as well as ability to collaborate with global teams remotely on resolution

• Initially, dedicated remote support would suffice, but eventually we need someone local on-site.

• Ideal candidate will have minimum 10 years of hands on experience with systems administration

• Experience in building and troubleshooting Windows and Linux clients

• Experience in configuring and supporting VLANs, ACLs, security rules, troubleshooting port issues

• Experience in security control measures: Installation, troubleshooting and issue resolution for Firewalls, AV solutions

• Virtualization experience preferred

• Excellent communication skills – interface effectively with users, contractors, corp IT services

• Able to work independently as well as collaboratively with central / Corp IT services when needed

• Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) versions 6, 7, and 8

• The mix is probably 70% Windows, 30% Linux.

• It is mostly their QA and DEV boxes that are Linux.
