Compensation:


  • In accordance with California law, the expected salary range for this position is posted with this position. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.


Role Summary:


The primary purpose of this position is to deliver education and outreach to referral sources and individuals eligible for our Older Individuals with Blindness (OIB) grant. This grant offers training, resources, and technology to individuals with visual impairments or blindness, promoting empowerment and independence in daily living skills, orientation and mobility, technology use, and other relevant areas of instruction.


  • Conducts public education and develops resources and awareness campaigns in conjunction with community organizations and leaders to support OIB initiatives and priorities, as well as participates in community events and meetings.
  • Oversees and implements outreach strategies to promote the OIB program directly to blind and visually impaired residents in and around Los Angeles County.
  • Interacts directly with large numbers of people through general outreach and targeted, face-to-face engagement.
  • Represents and works with programmatic staff and management team to develop and implement initiatives that increase the organization’s visibility within the surrounding community and connects new participants to OIB services and programs.
  • Develops resource materials such as physical and digital collateral, demonstration supplies, and literature.
  • Develops outreach lists for appropriate audience in order conduct in-services and presentations to educate on OIB services.
  • Prepares, creates, writes, and distributes bulletins, leaflets, newsletters, and other written information to the public.



Qualifications


  • A bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, business or related fields from an accredited university is required.
  • At least two years of experience in outreach and education or sales and marketing with a proven track record is required.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills are required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint is required.
