Job Description


The client, seeks a skilled Systems Engineer with a background in Electrical or Computer Engineering, holding a minimum of a 4-year degree. They require at least 3 years of experience in system integration and validation, ideally within a complex operational environment. Key technical competencies include proficiency in Software in the Loop (SIL) test execution, automation of system-level tasks using scripting languages like Python, and expertise in troubleshooting complex IT issues. The role demands strong communication skills for documenting test plans, debugging issues, and maintaining regular communication with global development and validation teams. Applicants must reside in or be willing to relocate to the Peoria, IL area, as remote work is not an option for this position.


***Only qualified Systems Engineer candidates located in the Peoria, IL area will be considered due to the position requiring a 100% onsite presence***


Education & Experience Required:

• Engineering degree is required (4 year degree at a minimum)

• Electrical/computer preferred, but open based upon experience

• Minimum 3 years of experience


Required Technical Skills:

• Software in the Loop (SIL) test execution with clear documentation and clear communication skills

• Experience automating system level administrative tasks using Python or other common scripting languages

• Experience with complex system testing and troubleshooting

• 2+ years’ experience managing Windows Server and Ubuntu VMs using Vsphere in a complex operational environment with responsibilities including: Management of OS updates, account administration using LDAP and other technologies, SQL server management, etc.

• Experience with testing and troubleshooting IT issues observed by complex client / server applications running in a global test environment including networking (unicast, multicast, broadcast) using tools such as Wireshark, server performance, etc.


Systems Engineer Responsibilities:

• The team is accountable for integrating multiple systems together and performing validation for the autonomous truck programs. We have HIL labs, SIL labs, and the BB test track where we put the hardware and software onto surrogate vehicles for on-machine testing and integration

• The team does system integration and validation for autonomous trucks, IT administration for our test servers, Execute testing, Develop automation and simulation for testing

• Participate in dealer/customer demonstrations

• In this role you will be working with cutting edge technology supporting the Cat Command for Hauling product line

• You will be a part of a high performing team completing vital system integration and validation tasks supporting our customers who are building a better world

Typical task breakdown:
