Sports Business Journal is a globally recognized brand that is the go-to news and networking source for thousands of sports business professionals. Producing breaking content every day, hosting over 20 events a year, and offering extensive industry resources to thousands of subscribers, the task representing this portfolio of products is an important one.

 

Expectations and Responsibilities:


Business Development: 

Proactively identify, prospect and sell new advertising business into Sports Business

 Journal.

Set up strategic meetings between prospective clients and Account Managers.  


Qualify Leads: 

Evaluate, manage and qualify leads generated from marketing campaigns 

Evaluate, manage and qualify internal referrals as potential sales opportunities. 

Determine how leads fit with the company's offerings and sales objectives. 


Prospect Engagement: 

Connect with prospects through inbound inquiries, emails and video/phone calls. 

Lead client calls to understand their needs and recommend appropriate products or services, particularly on digital and print advertising.  


Client Relationship Building: 

Cultivate long-term, trusting relationships with clients. 

Act as the primary point of contact for owned accounts, managing user interactions, providing customer service and maintaining regular check-ins. 


Pipeline Management: 

Efficiently manage a pipeline of growth target accounts. 

Become proficient in strategic use CRM process. 

Achieve monthly and quarterly renewal and upsell goals.  


Market Awareness: 

Stay informed about new products, services and pricing. 

Monitor industry trends and incorporate relevant insights into client interactions. 


Performance Metrics: 

Work against weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) aligned with the organization's reporting structure. 

Maintain detailed sales records and track progress. 


Team Collaboration: 

Contribute to a positive and successful team environment. 

Collaborate with colleagues to achieve collective goals. 


Industry Knowledge: 

Learn about all Sports Business Journal (SBJ) products and stay updated on product and pricing development. 

Stay abreast of industry trends. 

·      Become a brand advocate for SBJ. 

 

Requirements: 

·      1-3 years of experience in a B2B sales role. 

·      Excellent ability to consume knowledge and communicate it compellingly to others. 

·      Proven track record of quantitative performance against goals. 

·      Experience in prospecting, building networks, and initiating relationships. 

·      Familiarity with CRM tools. 

·      Strong B2B communication skills across multiple platforms. 

·      Strong research skills to effectively understand the business needs of a variety of clients. 

·      Effective listening and presentation skills. 

·      Fearless, self-motivated, proactive, and customer-centric mindset. 

·      Ability to manage the entire sales cycle, with recurring revenue as a priority. 

 

Preferred Attributes: 

·      Knowledge of and passion for the sports industry and business intelligence trends. 

·      A desire to achieve an ongoing career in media sales.
