Summary/Objective

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will lead the financial strategies for a multi-faceted non-profit organization and its affiliates. Key functional areas of operation are real estate development, residential construction, retail, mortgage servicing, fund raising, and community development.

 

This position is responsible for the oversight of the accounting and finance functions of the organization associated with budgeting, internal and external financial reporting, and tax compliance and reporting. The CFO will work in partnership with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Executive Leadership Team in developing a financial plan and strategy that supports growth for Green Country Habitat for Humanity (GCHFH).

 

Essential Functions

  • Oversees accounting and finance functions including budgeting, financial reporting, and special reporting as needed.
  • GCHFH strategic partner.
  • Prepares forecasts and related analyses.
  • Manages effective internal controls and ensures compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
  • Coordinates and works closely with external auditors for annual financial audit.
  • Optimizes banking relationships and initiates strategies to expand relationships as appropriate.
  • Coordinates risk management.
  • Prepares and attends Finance Committee meetings and attends full Board meetings.
  • Develops financial strategies and key performance indicators for the organization.
  • Prepares and oversees budgets to monitor department and company progress.
  • Manages debt, cash flow and forecasting with reliable cash flow projecting processes.
  • Works closely with construction development team to secure project financing.
  • Works closely with an outside accounting firm for the completion of the organization’s tax returns (990’s).
  • Directs and supervises all corporate insurance ensuring adequate coverage to protect the organization, its officers, and employees.
  • Fosters and cultivates a high performing team that supports Green Country Habitat’s mission, vision, goals, and values.

 

Experience / Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or relevant field
  • CPA professional accreditation required
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in a financial management position
  • Prior experience working with a non-profit organization preferred
  • Strong strategic, analytical, and financial planning skills
  • Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and financial reporting software
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt communication style to foster positive relationships with all departments in the organization
