Key Responsibilities

Responsible for all aspects of engineering and oversight of maintenance for all US facilities. Supervision of new programs from inception to completion, as well as the evaluation and updating of new and existing tool sources. Other responsibilities will include the tracking of program changes, assistance to customers, program managers, and operations for all US Facilities.

Management:

  • Responsible for quote preparation and approval with a key role in the development and execution of new business strategy.
  • Provide leadership through employee development, performance management and the development and execution of the financial and strategic business plan.
  • Mentor technical and manufacturing associates as individuals or as a group through the execution of work projects.
  • Support sales activity and assume lead role as plant customer contact for new business development and product launch.
  • In conjunction with the Operations Manager assists with continuous improvement of manufacturing processes to enhance safety, quality, and throughput.
  • Responsible for the quoting and engineering change management process.
  • Prepare capital projects and obtain approval for expenditures (business case).
  • Contribute to long term planning by the proactive planning of manufacturing facility/equipment design and capacity to ensure appropriate capability and continued competitive advantage.
  • Ensure support of long-term strategic goals by constantly searching out improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and implement effective business unit tactics to achieve long-term plant and corporate goals.
  • Leadership role on the US Operations Staff, working collaboratively with other manufacturing disciplines (Production, Quality, Materials, Human Resources, Accounting, Health and Safety) to achieve operational goals.

Engineering, Process & Maintenance:

  • Consistent and aggressive pursuit of equipment optimization through product and process innovation with respect to safety, quality, and throughput for both current and new production machines.
  • Responsible for program or project management including engineering project planning, timely execution, and project budgeting for all new and modified equipment and facilities.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of all equipment and facilities with a focus maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Maximize uptime through technical skills development for trouble shooting, cost effective solutions, and preventative maintenance.
  • Lead cross divisional technical innovation projects.
  • Manage the capability and performance of all equipment through upgrades, continuous improvements, new installations and maintenance.
  • Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer requirements and related specifications.
  • Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications and drawing releases.
  • Executes all Advanced Product Quality Planning processes throughout the new product launch cycle.
  • Oversees the purchase and inventory of all equipment critical spares.
  • Leads tooling and process selection and approvals.
  • Responsible for the pre-start Health & Safety reviews for all facility equipment following installation or modification and prior to production.
  • Leads the planning and implementation of changes to machinery and equipment and oversees the testing of new or modified equipment or facilities to ensure fulfillment of technical specifications.
  • Responsible for document control as it relates to technical documents.
  • Establish and develop the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for all equipment within all USA facilities.
  • Lead Manufacturing Process Team to achieve capability and OEE goals



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, mechanical or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in leadership roles within automotive working at a Tier 1 or Tier 2 Automotive Manufacturing Parts supplier.
  • Proven track record of successful product development, innovation, and project management
  • In-depth knowledge of laser welding processes, automotive design principles, and materials selection.
  • Process design development experience in manufacturing.
  • Just in Time manufacturing experience.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams
  • Proficient in MS Office tools.
  • Solid technical skills including principals of engineering design (CAD, blueprint reading), general knowledge of machining and fabrication, statistical process control, problem identification and resolution, knowledge of the APQP process, and project management.
  • Ability to estimate project costs and develop business case.
  • Strong communication skills (oral, written, presentation) with the ability to communicate effectively with employees, customers, and external industry groups.
  • Ability to lead cross functional teams.
  • Solid understanding of the manufacturing process.
  • Proactive in learning and development activities.
  • Proven ability to work with and develop people.
  • Strong customer focus.
