GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:


The Human Resources (HR) Assistant is responsible for daily administrative duties. The individual will assist with recruitment and record maintenance for payroll processing as well as provide clerical support.


CORE & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


• Provide administrative HR support within the department.

• Compile and update confidential employee records (hard and soft copies).

• Process documentation and prepare reports relating to personnel activities (staffing, recruitment, training, grievances, performance evaluations, etc.)

• Deal with employee requests regarding human resource matters while applying company policy and contract language. Escalate requests outside of job scope.

• Assist in payroll preparation and submissions by reviewing and providing relevant data (absences, bonus, leaves, etc.)

• Properly handle complaints and grievance procedures under the direction of management.

• Coordinate communication with candidates, schedule interviews and pre-employment screenings.

• Conduct initial orientation for newly hired employees.

• Assist other department management staff with work overloads by completing administrative duties, as necessary.

• All other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:


Possession of a high school diploma or GED is required, and a post-secondary degree is preferred. HR experience or relevant administrative skills a must. Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving; ability to prioritize. Must be organized and maintain confidentiality. Should be a self-starter with the ability to work both independently and within a team environment. Must work effectively with diverse types of people. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite applications and contact management software. Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. use of protective gear).
