Job Summary:

As a Logistics Operations Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in managing and coordinating the transportation logistics for our government contracts. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the seamless movement of flatbed and dry van freight while adhering to contract requirements and deadlines. You will work closely with internal teams, external vendors, and government agencies to facilitate the smooth execution of logistics operations. This is a hybrid position, with a combination of remote work and on-site coordination based out of our Saint Cloud, MN office.


Responsibilities:

A. Coordinate Transportation Logistics:

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate the movement of flatbed and dry van freight in compliance with government contract requirements.
  • Ensure timely pickup, delivery, and transportation of goods while optimizing efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Liaise with carriers, freight forwarders, and other transportation service providers to secure capacity and negotiate rates.
  • Track shipments and monitor transportation progress to proactively address any issues or delays.


B. Government Contract Management:

  • Familiarize yourself with the terms and conditions of government contracts related to transportation logistics.
  • Ensure compliance with all contractual obligations, including documentation, reporting, and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with the contracts team to resolve any contract-related issues and discrepancies.

C. Vendor Management:

  • Identify and evaluate potential vendors, carriers, and subcontractors for transportation services.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure reliable and efficient transportation solutions.
  • Conduct regular vendor performance reviews and provide feedback to optimize service quality.

D. Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of transportation activities, including bills of lading, shipping manifests, and compliance documentation.
  • Prepare regular reports and provide key performance indicators (KPIs) to management and government agencies as required.

E. Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify process inefficiencies and develop strategies to improve transportation logistics operations.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and best practices to enhance operational effectiveness.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field (one of the three is preferred).
  • If you do have a degree that's okay, a proven track record or experience in transportation logistics, preferably with government contracts is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of flatbed and dry van freight transportation operations.
  • Familiarity with government contract requirements and compliance.
  • Proficiency preferred in McLeod software and tools.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to travel occasionally, as needed.
