Position Overview:


The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for driving new business generation and expanding offerings within designated accounts, target segments, or geographic regions. This role is crucial in developing and managing the sales process, including account plans and pipelines, to introduce and market the clients products and services to both new and existing customers. The BDM is focused on achieving profitable growth and enhancing the company’s market presence. This is not a managerial role but requires mentoring Field Sales Representatives (FSRs) as needed.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Business Development: Establish, cultivate, and strengthen new business relationships for PTL. Leverage existing relationships to grow gross margins through new business capture and share of wallet opportunities.
  • Sales Process Management: Develop and maintain account plans and pipelines for business prospects. Prepare, present, and convert proposals for both new and existing customers.
  • Customer Engagement: Create value for customers by understanding their needs and articulating PTL’s unique value proposition. Focus on prospects where PTL’s distribution network can differentiate the company from the competition.
  • Market Intelligence: Observe and study market dynamics, providing insights and feedback as requested to enhance PTL’s market position.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and coach Field Sales Representatives (FSRs) to support their growth into BDM roles, when necessary.
  • Special Projects: Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned to support the broader business goals.


Competencies:

  • Sales Targets: Responsible for achieving monthly gross margin targets of $250,000 to $400,000.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain a network of strategic corporate and regional relationships. Develop a trusted advisor or consultative selling relationship with customers and prospects.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and maintain strategic account plans that involve cross-functional and “many to many” relationships.
  • Customer Consensus: Build PTL’s credibility and generate consensus among customer stakeholders.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience: 5+ years of demonstrated success in a solution-based selling environment within a relevant industry, with progressive experience. Proven track record of closing mutually beneficial deals at various management levels.
  • Skills: Strong listening and presentation skills, excellent verbal and written communication, and the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Goal-Oriented: Proven ability to deliver on goals and objectives, with a focus on implementing critical planning activities.


Education:

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or Finance. A combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Working Conditions:

  • Remote Work: This position primarily involves working remotely, with outdoor work and travel as required.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand, bend, push, and pull at least up to 10 lbs.
