Job Summary

The Conflicts Specialist (Laterals) is responsible for preparing conflict check reports, updating internal records related to new hire conflicts, and supporting new business intake processes.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following are the key responsibilities of the role, though additional duties may be assigned:

  • Review conflict check submission forms from partners, attorneys, and paralegals across the firm.
  • Generate accurate and efficient conflict check reports using Intapp, internal systems, and online research tools, supplementing findings with independent analysis and online research.
  • Communicate effectively with attorneys and staff to gather necessary information, ensuring data is collected promptly and accurately. Present this information in a clear and usable format.
  • Collaborate with the Conflicts team to update internal records and retrieve necessary documents such as engagement letters, waivers, and client details for attorneys.
  • Assist the Conflicts team with various operational tasks, including new business intake, establishing ethical walls, and conducting client background checks.


Additionally, all employees must comply with the firm’s information security policies. This includes safeguarding firm and client information, ensuring that unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, or destruction does not occur, and promptly reporting any security concerns to management.


Qualifications

  • High level of trustworthiness required to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Proficient in Boolean search logic and basic internet research techniques.
  • Exceptional attention to detail is critical.
  • Ability to complete tasks independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with staff and attorneys at all levels, exercising tact and diplomacy.
  • Openness to learning new skills outside of the conflicts area, including knowledge of anti-money laundering reviews, KYC (Know Your Customer) checks, and client onboarding processes.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours as needed, including sharing weekend and holiday remote coverage responsibilities with other Conflicts Specialists.
