About the OCC team

The Operations Control Centre (OCC) is part of our Operations department. The Operations department is responsible for making sure our global operations run safely and efficiently. The OCC team ensures that all operations in the area are conducted safely and in full satisfaction of our clients by providing 24/7 support. The OCC team consist of four sub teams: Emergency Hotline, Operations Support, Operations Improvements, and Supply Chain Management. In this role, you will be part of the Emergency Hotline team, working together with 5 other Technical Support Engineers based in The Netherlands, 1 in the US and 3 in Brunei. You will report to one of the two Senior Team Leads.


Your role as (Senior) Technical Support Engineer

As (Senior) Technical Support Engineer it is your responsibility to support the operation areas by preventing and reducing downtime of our fleet of motion compensated gangway systems to a minimum. You do this by working in shifts which take place 24/7 (day, evening, night and/or weekends) to ensure we can provide our service every minute of every day. During these shifts you will be first point of contact for our colleagues offshore or any emergency signalled by your colleagues. You will assist and solve the situation in a safe manner.


In case one of our systems is not operational, you will remotely solve any issue that occurs. Before solving issues by yourself, you will be trained extensively by your Technical Support Engineer colleagues. You will also be modifying existing software packages and deploying upgrades on our Ampelmann systems worldwide, both on- and (sometimes) offshore.


Moreover, as a (Senior) Technical Support Engineer, you will manage, coach and inspire your team members on their development, by setting priorities, sharing learnings and creating engagement for innovations.



Regular activities

  • Supervising troubleshoots by instructing offshore personnel, monitoring the work safety and informing internal and external clients about downtime status.
  • Minimising downtime by identifying challenges and formulating possible solutions.
  • Liaising with other departments to successfully solve operational and technical challenges.
  • Conducting project meetings and preparing regular reports to communicate project status to your Stakeholders.
  • Providing support in maintaining and upgrading our systems and software (onshore and at times offshore).
  • Continuously training/keeping yourself updated regarding the Ampelmann technology.
  • Coaching and inspiring your team members on their development and alignment with the company goals.


We ask

  • BSc or MSc degree in mechanical engineering, civil engineering or similar
  • 5+ years of relevant working experience or 7+ years of relevant working experience for senior level
  • Knowledge or genuinely interested in hydraulic and electrical systems
  • Knowledge of PLC control systems, preferably Siemens STEP 7 and/or TIA
  • Flexibility and pro-activity: willingness to work on weekends and evenings
  • Stress resistance: ability to maintain a good tasks overview, even with time constraints
  • An independent, responsible and accountable attitude as your direct manager is located outside of the US
  • Excellent communications skills in English
