POSITION PURPOSE

The Chief Operations Officer oversees daily member interaction, front office services, lending operations, and employee education to ensure exceptional service delivery. This role is pivotal in formulating, implementing, and administering Credit Union policies while managing front office operations, including purchasing, facilities, education, and security. The COO collaborates with the management team to develop policies, procedures, and training programs for efficient operations and compliance. Supervisory responsibilities include conducting appraisals, supporting operational success, and maintaining high service standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Department Planning and Leadership: Ensure effective departmental operations and coach Managers on credit union goals.
  • Member Relations and Service Delivery: Maintain superior member relations and support Managers in issue resolution.
  • Training and Development: Coordinate training efforts to enhance skills across departments.
  • Operations Oversight: Develop and implement operational plans and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Loan Functions and Administration: Coordinate loan processing and manage related functions.
  • Staffing and Schedule Management: Ensure adequate staffing and manage schedules.
  • Professional Relations and Security: Uphold professional relations and safeguard Credit Union assets.
  • Performance Management and Reporting: Conduct appraisals, maintain records, and implement corrective actions.
  • Security and Compliance: Ensure workplace security and compliance with standards. Knowledge of BSA/AML.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Stay informed of industry trends, complete projects, and represent the President/CEO as needed.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

  • Ensure efficient front office functions within budget and compliance.
  • Review and revise policies to align with credit union strategies.
  • Maintain effective communication and coordination between departments.
  • Implement quality control measures and uphold member service excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education/Certification: College degree in business or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Required Knowledge: Understanding of finance, operations, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a credit union or financial institution and management/supervisory.
  • Skills/Abilities: Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
