The Poultry Science Association (PSA) is seeking a Scientific Programs Coordinator to coordinate and manage various aspects of the scientific program content for the PSA Annual Meeting and other related events.


PSA is a non-profit, professional organization of scientists engaged in academic, corporate, and technical support of the poultry industries with a vision to be the world’s most respected source for the poultry sciences. This position is a full-time staff position situated at the PSA Headquarters in Champaign, Illinois.


Among other responsibilities the Scientific Programs Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the submission process for meeting abstracts, proposals for symposium sessions, speaker management, and the student and professional awards process.


This position reports directly to the Executive Director and will interface with other members of the staff regularly. Compensation is commensurate with experience.


Travel includes attendance at Association conferences and events, along with travel as needed in the course of business.


Scientific Program Duties:

  • Provide support and knowledge to the Program Chair and Program Committee during the science program planning process.
  • Provide oversight of abstract submissions, peer review process, and sessioning of abstract and symposium presentations.
  • Coordinate with speakers in obtaining required materials and documentation.
  • Manage the production and updating of online and printed meeting programs and coordinate with the Director of Communications the publication of meeting programs for all PSA Meetings.
  • Manage submissions of proposals for symposia for board review and approval.
  • Coordinate with the Meetings Manager on scheduling assignments for the scientific programming for the PSA Annual Meeting.
  • Set up the abstract management system for each meeting.
  • Management of the annual awards nomination and selection process.
  • Coordinate student presentation judging process for PSA and other related events.


Qualifications:

  • Experience in Abstract Management is preferred but not required
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, ability to think and act strategically with the capacity for growth in strategic thinking ability
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Detail-oriented and able to prioritize tasks effectively, ensuring that deadlines are met
  • Open and direct communication skills; oral and written communication skills are essential
  • Focus on accuracy and detail
  • Sound judgment and unwavering ethics
  • Self-motivation, independent work habits
  • Strong computer skills and highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of software programs
  • Agriculture and/or poultry background helpful, but not required
