Chief Technology Officer (CTO)


Job Summary

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) will lead the company's technology strategy, development, and future growth. The CTO will ensure the effective use of technology to meet the company's business objectives, overseeing all technical aspects and technology resources of the organization. This role requires significant experience working with startup companies, including the ability to build and scale technical teams and infrastructure from the ground up. A strong focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation is essential, as these technologies will be critical for innovation, automation, and customer engagement. Prior experience in the healthcare or health insurance industry is a significant benefit, as the CTO will need to navigate the complexities of healthcare technology, compliance, and data security. The CTO will collaborate with other executives to define and implement technology strategies that support the company’s fast-paced growth, AI-driven initiatives, and digital transformation goals.


Key Responsibilities


Strategic Technology Leadership:

  • Develop and execute the company’s technology strategy in alignment with business goals, particularly in a startup or high-growth environment.
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies that could enhance the company’s products and services, with a focus on AI, digital transformation, and healthcare and insurance-related innovations.
  • Lead innovation and ensure technological resources align with the company's short-term and long-term goals, driving AI initiatives and digital innovation.


Team Leadership and Organizational Development:

  • Build and scale the technology organization from scratch, including recruiting, hiring, and developing technical talent.
  • Oversee and manage technology teams, including software development, IT infrastructure, AI development, and data security.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative culture within the technology team, promoting digital and AI-based solutions.


Healthcare Technology and AI Development:

  • Lead the development of healthcare-specific technology solutions, ensuring compliance with industry regulations such as HIPAA.
  • Incorporate AI and machine learning technologies to enhance healthcare solutions, improving outcomes, efficiency, and patient engagement.
  • Ensure that technology products, particularly in healthcare and insurance, are scalable, secure, user-friendly, and compliant with industry standards, integrating AI-driven automation and digital processes.


Technical Operations:

  • Ensure the company’s IT infrastructure is reliable, secure, scalable, and capable of supporting AI and digital initiatives.
  • Implement and maintain effective data security and privacy measures, particularly in relation to healthcare data compliance.
  • Manage software development, deployment, and maintenance processes, ensuring continuous improvement, with a focus on AI and digital automation.


Budget and Vendor Management:

  • Develop and manage the technology budget, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently, particularly in the lean early-stage phase.
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors, negotiating contracts and ensuring service levels are met, particularly those specializing in healthcare technology solutions, AI tools, and digital platforms.


Collaboration with Other Departments:

  • Collaborate with the executive team, including the CEO, CFO, and COO, to align technology initiatives with business strategies, particularly around AI and digital transformation.
  • Work closely with product, marketing, and operations teams to integrate technology into overall business plans, with a specific focus on AI-based healthcare and health insurance solutions, digital engagement, and operational efficiency.


Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a CTO or in a similar senior technology leadership role, ideally within a startup or high-growth company.
  • Experience building and scaling technical teams and organizations from the ground up.
  • In-depth knowledge of technology architecture, systems development, and infrastructure.
  • Significant experience or familiarity with the healthcare or health insurance industry, including regulatory compliance (e.g., HIPAA, data security).
  • Expertise in AI, machine learning, and digital transformation, with proven success implementing AI-driven solutions across an organization.
  • Hands-on experience with software development, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (advanced degrees are often preferred).
