About the Role: We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator with expertise in DB2 for Linux, Unix, and Windows (LUW) databases within an AWS environment. In this role, you will be responsible for the administration, optimization, and maintenance of our database infrastructure, leveraging your knowledge of DB2 and AWS services. The ideal candidate will possess a consultative approach, providing strategic guidance on database architecture and AWS utilization while actively managing day-to-day database operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer, configure, and optimize DB2 LUW databases within AWS, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into effective database solutions.
  • Provide expertise on Purescale architecture, guiding database deployment and management strategies.
  • Evaluate AWS services and recommend those suitable for enhancing our database operations, considering factors such as cost, scalability, and security.
  • Lead database performance tuning efforts, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks to ensure optimal performance.
  • Develop and maintain database backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Implement and enforce database security policies and procedures, maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Mentor junior team members, providing guidance on database administration best practices and AWS utilization.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in database administration and AWS services, driving continuous improvement in our database infrastructure.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Extensive experience as a Database Administrator, with a focus on DB2 LUW databases in an AWS environment.
  • Strong understanding of database infrastructure concepts, including Purescale architecture.
  • Proficiency in AWS services relevant to database management and optimization.
  • Solid understanding of database performance tuning and optimization techniques.
  • Experience with database backup and recovery procedures, ensuring data integrity and disaster recovery readiness.
  • AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Database - Specialty) are a plus.

Location and Compensation: This position is based in Malvern, PA / Plano, TX / Charlotte, NC / Scottsdale, AZ. We offer a competitive compensation package, and for the right candidate, we are willing to negotiate rates to ensure alignment with your skills and expertise.
