Position Overview: The Director of LGBTQ+ Health and Wellness Services will oversee the organization’s health services, including advocacy, mental health, youth services, group facilitation, training and technical assistance, event coordination, and program evaluation. This role requires a dynamic leader who is passionate about LGBTQ+ health and capable of managing diverse programs and initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission of In Our Own Voices.
  • Serve as the day-to-day supervisor and primary contact for the youth LGBTQ drop-in space, both on-site and off-site.
  • Conduct end-of-year program evaluations and comprehensive community-wide pulse check surveys.
  • Assist with client intakes and assessments as needed.
  • Oversee staff conducting client intakes and assessments, ensuring culturally relevant, nonjudgmental, and supportive health navigation and counseling.
  • Modify documentation tools and reporting systems as needed.
  • Provide outreach in underserved areas to promote program enrollment and awareness.
  • Collaborate with the Special Events Coordinator on BIPOC Pride, the UTD LGBT POC Health Conference, and other health-related events.
  • Lead monthly quality assurance activities, including documentation oversight and outreach data collection.
  • Supervise the LGBT Program Coordinator.
  • Represent the organization at local meetings and collaborate with community-based organizations (CBOs).
  • Participate in planning and outreach for all IOOV events and projects.
  • Ensure all activities are accurately documented in appropriate databases.
  • Submit required documentation and reports, and contribute monthly articles to the newsletter.
  • Ensure compliance with confidentiality laws in all programming aspects.
  • Develop marketing and promotional materials to enhance service visibility.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in public health, social work, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may be substituted.
  • Minimum of one year of training and technical assistance experience.
  • Minimum of three years of human services experience, including outreach, education, or case management.
  • Familiarity with High Impact Prevention and LGBTQ healthcare services.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
  • Minimum of three years of management/supervisory experience.
  • Strong leadership and teamwork abilities.
  • Commitment to harm-reduction philosophy.
  • Flexible hours availability, including after-hours and weekends.
  • Valid, unrestricted driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Strong public speaking and communication skills.
  • Candidates who are bilingual (Spanish) and from multicultural backgrounds, particularly those identifying with the LGBTQ, Latinx, or African American communities, are strongly encouraged to apply.


Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with diverse personalities.
  • Solution-oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in data collection and reporting.


Physical Demands/Activities:

  • Frequent computer work, including typing and screen time.
  • Long periods of sitting and occasional lifting (up to 15 lbs).
  • Some physical activity, including walking, standing, bending, and getting in and out of cars.


Working Conditions:

  • Office environment with some off-site (indoor/outdoor) events.
  • Multiple interruptions and distractions from telephone calls, co-workers, and other staff.
