Our biotechnology client in Montgomery County, Maryland seeks a creative, resourceful, and collaborative Vice President, Corporate Finance. This candidate will lead, direct and plan activities of the corporate finance department to provide meaningful and timely information to the executive leadership to support corporate decision making. This position will report to the EVP & Chief Financial Officer, and work closely with other leaders within the Finance department and across the organization.



Location: Hybrid – three days a week in Gaithersburg, MD.



Responsibilities:

  • Support a wide range of corporate and business development transactions to further the company’s strategic objectives, serving as the finance lead for transaction evaluations and execution.
  • Capital Markets and Banking: Maintain relationships with investment and commercial banks to ensure access to capital markets. Lead the assessment of capital structure alternatives to enhance shareholder value.
  • Investment Management: Oversee the corporate investment portfolio and related policies, and manage the designated investment advisory firm.
  • Risk and Insurance Management: Supervise global risk management activities, including the procurement of corporate insurance and the maintenance of the business continuity plan.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated financial leadership experience, ideally with a publicly traded biopharmaceutical or high-growth company. Proven track record of vision, strategic and financial management, and success in building or transforming high-growth organizations.
  • Entrepreneurial self-starter with strong interpersonal and analytical abilities, high ethical standards, and a proven capability to collaborate effectively with CFOs and executive leadership as a strategic partner. Exceptional problem-solving, creativity, and judgment skills with a focus on making decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
  • Strong business acumen paired with unwavering integrity, dependability, and financial expertise. Ability to deliver high-quality results with a strong sense of urgency and a results-oriented approach for various stakeholders, including shareholders, strategic partners, the Board of Directors, and management.
  • Leadership in business and product development, with a keen commercial sense to drive the company’s evolution from a development-stage organization to a product-focused enterprise.


Education, Experience, Licenses & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting (CPA), or Business required.
  • MBA in Finance preferred.
  • Strong communication and influence skills, with the ability to build confidence and work effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in providing financial leadership within a progressive organization.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with a strong aptitude for conflict resolution, problem-solving, strategic planning, financial analysis, and staff development.
  • Exceptional interpersonal abilities with a commitment to mentoring and developing talent. A team-builder who leads by example and uses expertise and influence to foster collaboration across departments, levels, and groups to achieve common goals.
