Safety Program Specialist


Safety Program Specialist will support the Telematics program, business stakeholders, and other safety initiatives and programs. The Safety Program Specialist will work to develop, train, support, execute and sustain the telematics program and initiatives by developing material, analyzing data, providing analysis of internal and external performance, and engaging with and coaching key stakeholders on safe driving practices and behaviors.

The Safety Program Specialist’s responsibilities include but are not limited to developing material to support and advance the telematics program, establishing and maintaining local operations relationships to support the telematics program, performance data analysis and reporting, Fleet, IC and IT relationship liaison, issue resolution, vendor relationship liaison, as well as other safety initiatives duties as assigned.


Safety Program Specialist position will support the further development of the Telematics Program, technology, and safe driving culture through the development and execution of safety telematics initiatives, communications, process improvements, telematics data evaluation and management systems.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and distribute Program material related to telematics training, coaching, and support.
  • Evaluate and tailor customized telematics program support to remote and on-site local operations.
  • Develop, track, monitor, and report out metrics and milestones related to safe driver performance provided by the organizations Telematics program.
  • Lead and facilitate local engagements and build relationships necessary to ensure program sustainability.
  • Responsible for providing remote and on-site issue resolution.
  • Liaison with Fleet, Integration Center, and IT to sustain program effectiveness.
  • Subject matter expert and point of contact for Telematics technology and integration.
  • Develop, track, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to vendor performance, support, and problem resolution.
  • Own, manage, and drive to closure issues identified with the company Telematics program through collaborations with product vendor and end users.
  • Perform oversight of Telematics data performance.
  • Review and assess uploaded driving events and provide coaching to drivers both verbally and in writing concerning driving behaviors and driver scorecard.
  • Coordinate communication with all areas of the enterprise to assist in the effective rollout of initiatives and programs that result in advancing the telematics program and safe driving culture.
  • Deliver training of telematics programs and initiatives as needed.
  • Suggest and implement recommendations for improvement.
  • Deliver status updates to management both verbally and in writing.
  • Interface with both internal and external customers, suppliers, and partners to ensure we are meeting commitments.
  • Coordinate, record, and track project requirements according to internal and external customer needs.
  • Plan and facilitate project meetings.
  • Develop and maintain reports for safety programs and milestones for Management and other stakeholders.
  • Travel to necessary locations.
  • Understand and adhere to all Ethical and Compliance policies.
  • Proactively ensure a safe work environment and adhere to HS&E policies and procedures and Safe Driver Program.
  • Reconcile and manage invoices submitted by the organizations Telematics vendor.
  • Coordinate with state safety leadership and local leadership to identify areas of opportunity and provide knowledge and data for coaching.
  • Partner with Supply Chain to ensure the product vendors are delivering on contractual obligations.
  • Other Safety program duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited institution preferred.
  • Occupational Safety certification or safety degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of external vendor management desirable.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft suite, in particular Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to learn a variety of internally used software programs.
  • Demonstrated project management skills preferred.
  • Demonstrated public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated applications of Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action planning preferred.
  • Experience in the utility industry with an emphasis on safety programs, safety data analysis and reporting preferred.
  • Exhibits the attitude and behaviors valued in the organization.
  • Demonstrated analytical and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to quickly assess and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization both verbally and written.
