MEMA is seeking a Manager, Human Resources.

 

This position requires the individual to have a minimum of 3 years of previous and current experience as a Human Resources professional to be considered.

 

Location: Washington DC - preferred; Remoted considered - Regular travel to three office locations - Washington DC, Southfield, MI and Research Triangle Park, NC.

At MEMA, the Manager of Human Resources plays a critical role in ensuring the well-being of employees, aligning HR practices with company goals, and maintaining legal and regulatory compliance. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential, along with knowledge of employment laws.  A bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of HR experience are preferred. Experience with ADP Payroll and BambooHR HRIS are preferred.

In this role, you will:

HR Management, Strategy and Planning:

  • Oversee employee relations, performance management, and benefits.
  • Collaborate with senior management to align HR initiatives with organizational goals, staffing changes and performance strategies.
  • Stay informed on HR trends and recommend policy changes.
  • Ensure the company is compliant with current employment laws and regulations.
  • Analyze HR metrics to inform strategic decisions.
  • Maintain and update the MEMA Employee Handbook.

Employee Engagement and Culture:

  • Foster a collaborative and engaging workforce culture.
  • Build relationships with employees to understand their challenges and celebrate their successes.
  • Facilitate understanding of a matrix organizational structure.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Implement initiatives to boost employee morale and engagement.
  • Promote MEMA as a Great Place to Work.
  • Support employee work-life balance.
  • Organize employee recognition and wellness programs.

Training, Development and Performance:

  • Provide coaching and mentorship to employees.
  • Oversee the development and training needs of employees.
  • Manage the annual performance review process in Fall.
  • Promote high-quality work.

Benefits & Compensation:

  • Develop and implement HR compensation and benefit policies and processes.
  • Administer compensation, insurance benefits, and other benefit programs.
  • Collaborate with vendors and brokers on benefits design.
  • Manage the annual benefits enrollment process in Fall.

HR Financial Management:

  • Manage the HR budget and expenditures.
  • Maintain employee records in the payroll and other systems.

Talent Strategy:

  • Work with internal hiring managers to identify staffing needs and manage recruitment processes.
  • Recruit and identify qualified candidates from a variety of sources.
  • Prepare and place job ads and manage candidate interview process.
  • Conduct background checks and reference checks.
  • Prepare offer letters and new hire documentation.
  • Manage the onboarding and offboarding of employees.
  • Promote MEMA as a Great Place to Work.

Education and Experience:

  • 3-5 years of generalist experience in human resource management including payroll, benefits, recruitment, employee culture/wellbeing, coaching and 401(k) management is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regular travel is required to three office locations - Washington D.C., Southfield, MI and Research Triangle Park, NC.
  • Ability to travel and handle physical demands such as lifting and extended sitting.
