Lincoln Law School of Sacramento was founded in 1969 and provides an excellent legal education to a qualified and diverse student body through an accessible and supportive four-year program. Lincoln serves approximately 300 students in two J.D. program pathways, evening on-site and hybrid. The school is supported by nine staff and 34 adjunct faculty who are practicing attorneys and judges within the greater Sacramento legal community. The school is accredited by the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California, WASC Senior College and University Commission and is currently pursuing Title IV financial aid programs. 


Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Admissions, Financial Aid and Records Director is responsible for directly managing student admissions, enrollment accounting, managing and evaluating a financial aid delivery system, academic records, coordinating students in the school’s student information system, and reporting in accordance with school, accreditation, and other guidelines.  


This position oversees the school’s registrar and administrative staff and works closely with the Executive Director and Dean. 


The ideal candidate will be an intellectual visionary, with extensive personnel and program leadership and management abilities who can effectively manage daily operations and execute department goals.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:


  • Provide managerial direction including planning, goal setting, implementation and coordination of the administration of admissions, financial aid, registration, records maintenance, and awarding of degrees.
  • Directly manage the entire admissions process, including responding to inquiries and processing applicants regarding the school’s J.D. degree program, application procedures, admissions requirements, and tuition.
  • Serve as the school’s financial aid contact and liaison with the school’s financial aid processor, and local, state, and federal agencies regarding student aid. 
  • Direct and monitor the school’s record keeping process concerning deadlines, student attendance, transcripts, enrollment verifications, degree audits, grades, fee payment, veteran eligibility, exams, grades, and compliance with Federal FERPA requirements.
  • Interpret, implement, and maintain compliance with federal and state regulations, and school policies governing admissions and records, student financial aid programs, veteran’s affairs, and Department of Rehabilitation.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor school policies and procedures for the processing of student applications, the awarding of student aid and the maintenance of student financial aid records in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Develop and conduct outreach recruitment activities, open houses, information days, and other forums to inform schools, students, and the community of admissions and financial aid opportunities in an effort to meet diverse students’ needs.
  • Exercises professional judgment in reviewing, evaluating, and recommending applicants for admission using established guidelines.
  • Coordinate use of technology for admissions, registration, grade reporting, student records, financial aid and other applications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.


Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Five (5) years of experience effectively managing multiple departments and full-time employees simultaneously such as, admissions, student services, financial aid, academics, records, or similar types of programs.
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Knowledge of financial aid and veteran affairs aid processing.
  • Advanced project management skills with demonstrated experience delegating responsibility, tracking project progress, supervising others, and advising teams on competing priorities.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills and experience working with teams to address issues that cross departments and/or divisions of an organization.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB), and ability to apply and integrate core concepts of DEIB into everyday practice.

 

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Ability to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
  • Significant experience managing financial aid in an ever-changing environment.
  • Experience developing financial aid, admissions, or records process improvement.
  • Able to lead data gathering efforts seeking information from multiple and diverse sources.
  • Ability to prepare and present statistical reports.
  • Strong understanding of the academic environment, including an understanding of admissions, records, and financial aid needs and workflows.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee will have extended periods of time sitting and working from a computer and on the phone. The employee must be able to work a flexible schedule or extended hours including some weekends or holidays. The employee must be able to work offsite on occasion for outreach activities. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
