Position Overview

Responsible for procuring vehicle and facility parts and supplies for inventory, capital assets, services, and supplies. Involves soliciting quotes, identifying optimal sources, negotiating contracts, and awarding purchase orders in accordance with federal and state regulations. Ensures selection based on criteria such as pricing, quality, reliability, and responsiveness of suppliers and providers. Contributing to the enhancement of procurement policies and procedures at Utah Transit Authority.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field. Successful candidates will undergo a credit check.

EXPERIENCE:

At least two years of experience in procurement, inventory management, or materials planning with a proven track record of growth, preferably within the public sector. Preference will be given to candidates with familiarity with federal procurement regulations.

Knowledge:

  • Proficient in negotiation strategies.
  • Familiarity with state and federal laws governing procurement processes.

Skills:

  • Effective in researching products and vendors.
  • Ability to assess purchase requisitions, specifications, price quotes, and related documents.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, displaying innovative thinking and proactive resolution abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly in Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with computerized purchasing systems (JD Edwards knowledge preferred).

Abilities:

  • Efficiently manages workload, adapts to changes, and organizes work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail and tact when interacting with suppliers and vendors.
  • Cultivates productive relationships with colleagues, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates ethical behavior, maintaining fairness, honesty, and consistency in policy application.

Punctual attendance is a requirement of this role.
