Role of the Planner/Buyer


The Planner/Buyer plays a crucial role in overseeing inventory management, production scheduling, and material procurement for designated production areas to fulfill customer delivery expectations while optimizing departmental production capabilities.

The Planner/Buyer will report directly to the Director of Planning and Inventory and will have daily accountability to the site-specific plant manager.

Key Responsibilities

Materials Resource Planning:

Ensure the appropriate quantity of raw materials is stocked to meet demand, maintaining optimal inventory levels in alignment with the business strategy.


Finished Goods Order Planning:
Schedule production to align with customer due dates and expectations.

Finished Goods Stock Planning:
Maintain adequate stock levels of finished goods for consistently selling products.

  • Creation of Manufacturing Orders and issuance of relevant lab and safety documentation.
  • Conduct ERP batch transactions.

Inventory Analysis:
Address variances and perform root cause analysis on recurring issues.

  • Implement necessary corrections following root cause analysis acceptance.
  • Assist with customer emergencies outside of regular hours.
  • Recommend and execute process enhancements.
  • Source, negotiate, and select vendors that meet the company's quality, pricing, and delivery standards for assigned products.
  • Develop and sustain effective relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Obtain and maintain COA, BOL, TDS, SDS, and other pertinent documents related to orders placed and products procured.
  • Ensure timely delivery of items and follow up with vendors regarding late orders.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Prior experience with ERP systems is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Adept at troubleshooting and resolving issues in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • High School Diploma (GED) is required.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic Lean Six Sigma training.
  • 5+ years of experience in purchasing, buying, and/or planning.
  • APICS CPIM certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Must be a US Citizen or possess permanent resident status.
