Job Details

POSITION OVERVIEW:

  • Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Corporate Controller will manage the existing Accounting staff person and outsourced accounting resources and focus on developing existing staff, defining and implementing new processes, and building the team to successfully support the Company's significant anticipated growth.
  • The Corporate Controller will be a critical leader in the organization and support the senior Management team.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working with the CEO to ensure that the Accounting team is supporting and meeting all of the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Oversight of the monthly closing process, including analytical review and feedback of monthly operating results to ensure timely and accurate financial results and the integrity of the general ledger and financial reporting.
  • Preparation and distribution of monthly financial statements, supporting schedules and prompt follow-up to questions regarding financial results.
  • Review of operating results with the Management team to ensure that issues adversely affecting performance are being addressed and supporting profit goals and cost control initiatives.
  • Responsible for annual budgets.
  • Working with the Operations team on assumptions and reviewing monthly reporting and variance analysis of budget versus actual results with senior management.
  • Responsible for developing proper internal controls, segregation of duties, and best practices are implemented and followed.
  • Oversight of all tax related matters including all compliance, registrations, reporting, audits, and responding to inquiries from taxing authorities.
  • Providing support to the IT team on successful integration of existing and planned systems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required, and a CPA and/or MBA is desirable. A minimum of 7 years' progressive finance and accounting experience in a construction environment preferred. The selected candidate must be a demonstrated team builder and team player with strong leadership skills.

Additionally, it is expected that candidates will possess knowledge and/or experience in the following areas:

  • Proven experience building and leading an accounting team.
  • Proven experience defining effective new processes and controls.
  • Experience working in a privately-owned company environment where important and confidential business and financial information is closely held.
  • Proficient in Excel and in the use of Quickbooks; possesses ERP/ financial systems experience, including new system implementation.
  • Process improvement experience, including selection and implementation of new software solutions.
  • Proven ability to grow, train, mentor, develop and coach a team.
