POSITION SUMMARY:

The Tool and Die Maker Preventative Maintenance, repairs, and monitors tools using toolroom equipment.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Makes minor to medium level tooling repairs and tool condition assessments *
  2. Ensures tools are ready for production by monitoring production load sheets.*
  3. Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, milling machine, and grinder, to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machine parts to specifications.*
  4. Performs preventative maintenance on production molds and dies.
  5. Fits replacement mold components when required and machines when necessary.
  6. Ensures proper documentation of work performed, shot count, concerns etc..

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
  • Two-year technical school in Tool & Die making or equivalent experience
Experience:
  • Minimum of two (2) years related experience as a Toolmaker,
  • Understanding of various tool steels and how they relate to the appropriate application.
  • Knowledge of small miniature molds is a plus.
  • Experience with medical grade resins is a plus.
  • Thorough knowledge of machine shop practice.
Skills:
  • Requires a thorough knowledge of machine shop practice.
  • Understands trigonometry.
  • Understands production machine functions and can troubleshoot mechanical functions.
  • Good communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to walk, squat, bend, climb, sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Employee is frequently required to talk or hear. Employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. Employee must frequently lift 10 pounds and/or occasionally move up to 50 pounds.
