Department Summary

The Office of the Registrar is dedicated to providing prompt, efficient service for UNT Dallas College of Law. The Office of the Registrar is the home for academic records, registration, enrollment, transcripts, and graduation services.

The mission of the Office of the Registrar is to provide accurate and timely customer service and information to students, faculty, staff, alumni, central administration, and external constituencies.

Position Overview


The UNT Dallas College of Law invites applications for the position of Assistant Director for Curriculum Management and Student Aid.

The Assistant Director of Curriculum Management and Student Aid will report to (1) the UNT Dallas College of Law Law Registrar and (2) the UNT Dallas Director of Financial Aid, depending on the responsibilities involved.

This position combines the responsibilities of curriculum management as well as administers the law school's student financial aid.

This position monitors the academic needs of our students to provide guidance to academic affairs regarding those findings, ensures student enrollment is properly executed and academic records and course examinations are properly structured.

Finally, this position is important because it helps our students continually audit and receive advice about their course offerings, academic standing, and how both impact student financial aid.


The UNT Dallas College of Law is a Fully Approved ABA public law school in downtown Dallas with a fulltime day division and a part-time evening division.


The College of Laws goals are:
(1) widening access to legal education for those who could be superb legal professionals but who cannot realistically access a legal education given factors including location, cost, and the current role of the LSAT in admission to and financing of law school; (2) providing an educational program focused on excellence in developing practice related competencies, through a curriculum mapped to those competencies and using best instructional practices, including multiple formative and summative assessment throughout, engaged class design, and a spectrum of experiential education; (3) creating opportunity for our students by keeping tuition and debt low and producing graduates with high value and ability in multiple segments of the market for legal services; (4) becoming a national leader in advancing understanding of best legal education practices, of professional formation, and of the relationship between legal education and the evolving practice and business of law; (5) improving access to justice for underserved legal needs; and (6) serving as a valuable partner in civic engagement with the City of Dallas and the North Texas region.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field and five years of professional related experience in admissions, registrar, student finance and/or financial aid; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the listed knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Masters degree in a related field and seven years of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Exceptional service orientation Ability to work effectively with all levels of internal constituents; including the Dean, faculty and administrators of the College of Law, and counterparts in other organizations within the University

Knowledge of student payment and/or financial aid funding mechanisms, regulations, methods for assessing need, accounting principles

Experience with maintaining computerized database using specialized software

Knowledge and experience as to data analysis, reporting, and institutional effectiveness

Knowledge and experience as to other areas of student services and software relating to those services

Higher Education experience

Job Duties


Coordinates curriculum planning with administrators and faculty to insure that the catalog, schedule for classrooms and semester periods are assigned and accomplished on a timely basis.

Monitors curriculum policies and procedures for improvements and necessary changes.


Responsible for Study Abroad opportunities for law school students to include working with other institutions to coordinate the experience, enrollment, financial aid and transcription to the academic record.


Assists other staff with course examinations, to include proctoring and determination of scholastic honors; Assists degree audit, system changes to degree offerings, graduation processing, and final degree certification.


Audits student records; Create ad-hoc queries and reports; Coordinates the transfer of the academic record from admissions to archival in the registrar's office as well as the scanning of all student records.


Responsible for helping students with their financial aid needs on a timely basis; Ensures all financial aid regulatory requirements are met on time; Coordinates with all financial aid providers is accomplished by applicable time guidelines.


Advises our students about their academic and financial standing; and Performs other duties as needed in regard to curriculum, student aid, and registrar services.

Handles problems, complaints, and special requests.
