Job Title: Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)
About the Company: NIAID is a leading institute at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) dedicated to understanding, treating, and preventing infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases.
The Immunobiology and Molecular Virology Section at NIAID is seeking a postdoctoral research fellow for a position focused on vaccine development for highly pathogenic, emerging viruses.
- Location: Rocky Mountain Laboratories (RML) in Hamilton, Montana
The section conducts research on RNA viruses causing hemorrhagic diseases with a focus on understanding the pathogenesis and developing countermeasures.
Experimental approaches include molecular and cell-based techniques in various biosafety levels (BSL) laboratories.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to vaccine development for highly pathogenic viruses
- Participate in the comparative analysis of filovirus vaccines
- Utilize immunologic approaches to assess vaccine immunogenicity and efficacy
The selected candidate will join a diverse team to address questions related to virus pathogenesis and vaccine development.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in virology, molecular biology, immunology, or related disciplines
- Less than two years of postdoctoral experience
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Experience in high-containment virology and working with animal models (preferred)
This position offers health insurance and a starting stipend of $67,200 per year.
The NIH Postdoctoral IRTA Fellowship program provides opportunities for recent doctoral graduates to enhance their research skills in a supportive environment.
