Postdoctoral Researcher - National Neurotrauma Society

The National Neurotrauma Society is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to lead and engage in innovative research initiatives alongside a dedicated research team. This role focuses on advancing neuroscience research within the realm of neurotrauma, particularly in the context of traumatic brain injury (TBI) and its implications on neurodegenerative conditions.

The successful candidate will work within a collaborative environment, concentrating on preclinical models to investigate the impact of neurotransmitter systems, especially monoamine and acetylcholine pathways, following traumatic brain injury. The research aims to explore therapeutic candidates that may alleviate symptoms associated with TBI and aging.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and implement scientific research projects and methodologies.
  • Evaluate the applicability of diverse scientific principles to innovative research inquiries.
  • Conduct specialized laboratory experiments utilizing advanced protocols and techniques.
  • Collect, manage, and analyze experimental data, maintaining meticulous records.
  • Prepare findings for dissemination at scientific conferences and for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Engage in additional tasks as assigned by supervisory personnel, including participation in mandatory training sessions.
Qualifications

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience with rodent models, including drug administration, behavioral assessments, and histological techniques.
  • Strong foundation in relevant scientific disciplines.
  • Proficient in data analysis and interpretation.
  • Ability to secure and uphold a T1/Public Trust background clearance.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • Capability to remain seated or standing at a workstation for extended periods.
  • This position is primarily laboratory-based.

Education and Experience

  • 0-5 years of relevant experience is required.
